At Livability, we recruit people with the passion, talent and skills to make ‘it all add up’ for the people we support. What makes life livable is never down to just down to one thing. It’s the sum of many things: from friendship to fun; from companionship to community, from a great chat to a challenge overcome. It all adds up – to Livability.
From our work on the front line, we know that too many people in our society face barriers that cause them to be isolated and excluded. Disabled people are often most at risk. Livability wants to change that.
Every day, our 2,000 strong workforce deliver services across the UK in the areas of disability care, community work and social inclusion.
Working together and with disabled people and celebrating everyone’s unique strengths are top priorities at Livability.
Our commitment to you is that we will provide an inspiring and rewarding working environment, ongoing opportunities for learning and career progression.

Would you enjoy working in social care?We ask five of our experienced managers about what characterises their most outstanding staff.
Compassion – are you a ‘people’ person? All our managers agree that this is one of the top traits they see in their best staff.
‘The staff are very compassionate and caring which is a must for this line of work. They have an understanding of others’ emotions.’ Michelle
‘They need to be kind and compassionate, be able to really listen and want the very best for the people they support.’ Mandy
‘Compassion and empathy is important – the ability to stand side by side with someone.’ Stuart
Experience and training in social care – do you need this to apply?Arriving with experience is not important, say our managers – you will gain training and experience with Livability, if you’re right for the job.
‘We have a mix of staff – some come qualified, others with no care experience at all, like Louise and Wendy, who are outstanding members of my team. You can have qualifications coming out of your ears but if you’re not a people person, qualifications don’t get you very far.’ Helen
‘The majority of staff in my services have come from a local college with very little or no experience.’ Michelle
‘About 70 per cent of our staff are new to social care when they join us. I look for common sense, life experience and initiative, and the right attitude.’ Mandy
