Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal attended an event on 8th May 2013 to celebrate the work of Livability and their strong commitment to supporting disabled and vulnerable people all over the UK.

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, who is Livability’s patron, graciously gave a speech on the night and she spent time meeting some of the charity’s disabled service users.

The event was a real celebration of Livability’s past, present and future achievements.  It highlighted its unique heritage of 160 years spent leading social reform: Livability was formed in 2007 from the merger of two well-known charities, the Shaftesbury Society and John Grooms.  The night was also an opportunity for guests to find out more about the charity’s recently launched Let Me In campaign which is all about removing the barriers that disabled people still face every day.Livability RBS City Reception May 8th 2013

Dave Webber, Interim Chief Executive at Livability said: “This event was a fantastic opportunity for us to share and celebrate the pioneering work we do to support disabled and vulnerable people all over the UK. In these difficult times, there is a real risk that disabled people could become more and more isolated within society. Livability MUST do all it can to prevent this. Livability is committed to enabling disabled and disadvantaged people to take up their rightful place in their communities and have every opportunity to reach their full potential.”

Nick Howe, Enterprise Manager at the Royal Bank of Scotland said: “We are delighted to have been able to host this reception and to welcome HRH The Princess Royal on our premises. Livability is a charity that manages to make a real, practical difference to the lives of disabled and disadvantaged people. We are already supporters of its Enterprise Agency initiative and we look forward to continuing developing our links with the organisation.”
