Launch of Tourism is for Everybody

The 12th March is disabled access day and in advance of this Tourism for All has launched a new campaign called Tourism is for Everybody, a movement to help the travel and tourism industry better cater for the 11 million + people in Britain who are disabled in some way. As part of this campaign TFA have created a new logo / kite mark which can act as a guide to the public about accessible businesses.

Service users from three of Livability’s services: The Links – Brackley, York House – Ossett and New Court Place – Borehamwood took part in focus groups to decide on the new logo being used for the campaign. During these groups they were asked to select from a series of potential logos, colour schemes and fonts. The final choice reflected all three groups’ choice of colours and Tourism for All highly valued their input as potential travellers.

In support of the launch Minister for the Disabled Justin Tomlinson MP commented “the tourism industry has made great strides in introducing physical changes, but for many disabled people providing warm welcome and a positive attitude is equally as important as the facilities.”

Details of the campaign can be found at www.tourismisforeverybody.org which includes a helpful section for people looking for advice on stress free travel.
